Invisalign; key advantages of using this aligner
Do you want to have a straighter smile as an adult, but don’t want to wear metal braces?
Ever considered treatment with invisible ones or an aligner?
At The Dental Retreat, we have helped many adult patients to obtain the smiles that they have always wanted using Invisalign Macleod, and if you are suitable, we can help you as well!
Here, our team at the practice discusses 5 key advantages of using Invisalign Macleod to straighten your teeth.
Better discretion
As the name of the aligner suggests, Invisalign Macleod is designed to be invisible. Well, nearly!
It is made from clear plastic and slots over your teeth like a sports guard, meaning that few people (if any) will be able to spot that you are wearing it in day-to-day life.
For added discretion, however, we do advise our patients that they keep the aligners clean using cold water and if needed, appropriate cleaning crystals. Do not use hot water when attempting to remove stains from your invisible aligners, as this can cause them to warp out of shape and could result in delays to treatment.
Removable
And, for added discretion, you can even take the aligners out of your mouth for around 2 hours a day!
That means you can remove them to give talks, go on dates and brush your teeth. You can even take them out when you come to see our team for a check-up!
However, this can be a bit of a double-edged sword; many patients find it too tempting to leave the aligners out of their mouths for longer than 2 hours a day, which can result in treatment slowing and even their teeth reverting back to their former positions.
If you are having trouble keeping track of how long you are wearing your aligners, please talk to our team.
Accelerated
Provided that you do wear the invisible aligners for 22 hours a day (or as long as our team recommends), you will notice an accelerated treatment overall.
Generally, orthodontic treatment in adults can take up to 3 years, but if you are suitable for invisible aligners, you could have a straighter smile in as little as 3 months.
Comfort
Many patients are surprised at how comfortable invisible aligners are to wear in daily life.
As they are made from smooth, but malleable plastic and do not rely on pulling the teeth to move them, they are actually quite gentle, carefully nudging your teeth into the desired position slowly, without the need for adjustments.
However, we must remind our patients that, while comfortable, these aligners are designed to move your teeth and when you switch from one aligner to another, there will likely be a period where you experience pressure on your teeth.
Exceptional results
The results that accompany the correct use of invisible aligners can be striking and, provided you wear a retainer afterwards, can last the rest of your life.
When visually compared to results obtained using fitted braces, there is no noticeable difference and so, if you are curious to see if you are suitable for treatment with invisible aligners, contact our team today!
