Invisalign: realigned smiles done differently
If you have misaligned teeth, it can be a source of both physical and emotional discomfort. You know that you need to do something about both the appearance and the way your teeth function, but you don’t fancy the thought of having treatment. However, without treatment, not only can misaligned teeth make it difficult to eat and speak properly, but it can also lead to a diminished feeling of wellbeing. That’s why you need to find a way to realign your smile differently.
Fortunately, there is a discreet and convenient way to realign your teeth without the need for traditional braces that we offer at The Dental Retreat: Invisalign Macleod. Invisalign Macleod is a clear aligner system that uses a series of custom-made plastic aligners to gradually move your teeth into their correct position.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a clear aligner system that is used to improve the alignment of your teeth without the need for traditional braces. The aligners are made from a clear, tooth-coloured plastic that is virtually invisible when worn and is held over the teeth like a gum shield, although it is far more streamlined and comfortable to wear! The aligners should be virtually invisible to other people as well.
Treatment
Invisalign requires you to have a consultation to find out if this is the right treatment for you. If you decide to go ahead, our dentist will then be able to get the measurements of your mouth, using iTero technology. This is digital imaging technology that allows us to get the precise measurements of your mouth, in order for the aligners to be manufactured for you in the Invisalign laboratory. We will also be able to generate a 3D animation of how your mouth will look by the end of the treatment, before you have even had to start wearing your aligners. This should hopefully give you a clear vision of how wonderful your smile will be and it should be very encouraging as you embark upon your Invisalign journey.
Once the treatment plan is finalised, you will return to see us to receive your first series of aligners. You will wear each aligner for 2 weeks, before moving on to the next one. We will ask you to come in every 6 weeks for a check-up and to receive the next set of aligners.
The duration of Invisalign treatment varies depending on the severity of your case. However, most people complete their treatment in 6-18 months.
How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign works by applying gentle pressure to your teeth. This pressure causes your teeth to move gradually into their correct positions. The aligners are designed to be comfortable to wear, and they can be removed for eating, brushing, and flossing. This means that you can maintain your excellent oral hygiene routine, whilst undergoing treatment for realigning your smile.
Advantages of Invisalign
There are many advantages to choosing Invisalign Macleod over traditional braces. Firstly, the aligners are virtually invisible, so you can wear them without anyone knowing you are undergoing treatment and you can continue with your life as normal. Invisalign aligners are also removable, so you can take them out for eating, brushing, and flossing, which will allow you to maintain good oral hygiene during treatment. Another advantage of Invisalign is that it is a proven treatment that can realign teeth, having been used to treat over 11 million smiles around the world. The reason for their popularity has to be in part due to the fact that Invisalign aligners are custom-made for your individual teeth, so they are more comfortable to wear.
