Everything you need to know about teeth whitening Macleod

Over time, your teeth may become naturally discoloured or stained. It happens to everyone no matter how well you take care of your teeth, but a strict tooth cleaning regime can keep on top of the plaque. When you drink things like coffee or eat dark coloured fruits and foods like berries or curry, your teeth are more likely to become stained. Teeth whitening Macleod, however, can give you back the prized, bright white smile that you had originally or are wanting for the first time in your life! Here at The Dental Retreat, we will always listen to everything you have to say and take your concerns on board. Making you feel comfortable and relaxed will always be the most important thing for us.

In this short article, we will discuss the teeth whitening Macleod treatment, how it works, what your options are and answer any questions you might have.

In-chair whitening

Your first option will always be to undergo teeth whitening Macleod right here in our dental practice. When there are much deeper or darker stains on your teeth, this is sometimes the best method of getting the bright, white smile you desire.  We can assess on an individual basis and decide how much of the whitening gel will be needed to lift the shade of your teeth and have every tooth matched, giving an even look at the end of the process. After the initial whitening treatment, we will provide you with a top-up whitening gel to apply for 2 weeks.

At-home whitening

We also offer an at-home whitening option which can sometimes be suitable. If you would like to take control of getting your teeth whiter and brighter, or if you’re too busy to stay for an entire session inside the practice, finding out about our at-home option can be extremely beneficial. We will provide all the information and steps required in detail. In most cases, you will be provided with a whitening gel and trays to put the gel in, before wearing them for a certain period of time. This may take more time than our in-chair option, depending on the staining and how many shades lighter you would like to go.

Deeper stains

If the discolouration on your teeth is a lot deeper than the surface level, we may offer you alternative options. For example, we could use abrasion whitening. This option, however, can sometimes be trickier than our most common methods. Alternatively, we may recommend a different treatment altogether, including veneers or composite bonding. If you would like more information on either of those options, please let us know and we will be happy to provide you with all the knowledge we have.

Sensitivity

We are very careful when performing our treatments, and as long as the treatments are performed correctly, there is no reason why you should suffer from long term sensitivity problems. You might have some slight discomfort after the initial treatment as the holes in the enamel have been exposed, but we are more than happy to offer a sealant process if the discomfort becomes severe. If your teeth are sensitive in general, please let us know beforehand as we may suggest whitening your teeth gradually instead of in one session.
